Isle of Wight Bus Museum
The Museum has now been re-housed at the Southern Vectis Bus depot in Ryde. They range from a 1889 tram car and a 1927 Daimler, to more up todate vehicles. There are also examples of vehicles under reconstruction and restoration, along with many items of memorabilia, and a vast collection of photographs showing off the heyday of the Island as a holiday destination in the bucket and spade era.
The Bus Museum is run by an enthusiastic group of volunteers and of course new members are always welcome to put their head around the corner and come in. We are a working museum with restored operational vehicles on special occasions such as bus rallies, carnival events and special open days.
There is a well stocked gift shop, and refreshments/toilet facilities close by. Make your trip to the Isle of Wight complete with a trip to this fascinating museum, and relive the bygone times of the ‘Golden Age of Bus Transport’.
