The Bats Wing Tea Room

REF NR: 3545

This old thatched cottage was constructed in 1536 and has been converted into a popular tearoom. There is a secret tunnel that leads from the Bats Wing cellar to the church at the top of the hill which was made use of by priests in hiding.

There is said to be the ghost of an old lady known as Rose who haunts the Bat’s Wing. She has been seen wearing a long black dress, most likely from Victorian times with a white apron that reaches down to the ground. She has been seen relaxing in a rocking chair with a ginger cat sleeping on her knee.
