History Shipwrecks

REF NR: 615

The 500 ton Danish Coaster developed a leak and sank in 1967 after getting into difficulty east of Bembridge Ledge. Dive reports suggest that the stern of the Bettann can be a nice and simple shallow dive for new divers, as it is lying in around 12mts of water.

The wreck itself is relatively new as she sank in 1967. Interestingly the bow and stern are quite some distance away from each other, as there was an attempt to try and move the wreck from the shallows. However during this operation as the stern was being towed away it broke free and sank again.
