Queen Victoria came to rely on the company of her youngest daughter Beatrice, whom she called "Baby" for most of her childhood
Ref Number: 00487
Princess Beatrice was born in the year 1857, at which point the practise of engaging in family trips to Osborne had become a customary occurrence. Beatrice, the youngest offspring among Victoria and Albert’s nine children, assumed the role of her mother’s companion.
The union between the individual in question and Prince Henry of Battenburg took place in 1885, specifically at Whippingham Church.
In 1889, Henry was appointed as the Governor of the I.W. Following his demise in 1896, Beatrice was bestowed with the same role, which she held until her own passing in 1944.
