Allan Williams Turret Wroxall Down

REF NR: 2455

The Allan Williams Turret was designed to house all types of light weapons: Bren, Lewis, Boys, Hotchkiss & Browning and to give some cover to the man who was using it. This turret is located in a random field between Wroxall and St Boniface Down, Ventnor. It is also very near the vent pipe for the old Ventnor railway tunnel. The only viable reason for this situated here was to possibly assist in the protection of  RAF Ventnor Radar station further up the down.
