History Air Crashes of WWII

Allied - Spitfire Mk 1 - N3239

REF NR: 1919

The N3239 was flying from Squadron 234, based at Middle Wallop and being flown by Pilot Officer J. Zurakowski.

The dogfight that was taking place had the spitfire being chased by a messerschmitt Bf109 who successfully took out the spitfire. Zurakowski managed to open the canopy and bail out. The spitfire however, cascaded down to earth crashing at Little Burbridge Farm near Godshill.
