Swim Safe 2019

REF NR: 7510

Swim Safe is a FREE event which offers a fun and safety-focused one hour session for children aged 7-14 years who can already swim 25 yards unaided. A joint promotion by the RNLI and Swim England, Swim Safe gives participants on-beach and in-water tuition from qualified swimming teachers and lifeguards.

These days most children learn to swim in a swimming pool, but the sea and open waters are a very different environment.

Swim Safe provides tips and advice on staying safe near, and in, the water and how to help if others are at risk.

All children need to bring is a swimming costume and a towel - wet suits and swim hats are provided. And each child takes home their Swim Safe swim hat, key ring and a certificate.

Booking is open NOW at www.swimsafe.org.uk (select Isle of Wight Sandown as location) and online booking is strongly advised as sessions may be booked up and numbers are limited.

Swim Safe Isle of Wight is offered in partnership with the Isle of Wight RNLI Lifeboat Board and the Isle of Wight Council's Sports Development unit.
Originally operated from a single site in the South-West in 2003, Swim Safe will run at over 30 locations around the UK in 2019. Over 20,000 children attended Swim Safe events last year and the Isle of Wight was awarded the "Best Overall Site"!And Sandown Beach was voted "Best British Beach" by BBC Countryfile magazine in January 2019 - come and join the fun! There are five sessions each weekday to choose from. A parent or carer is asked to be present throughout their child's or children's session. Sessions may be cancelled if weather conditions are adverse on the day.
