– Introduction to the basic theory of the process and techniques for preparing the plate

– How to mix and pour the collodion, including the mixing of chemicals, exposing, developing, fixing and varnishing.

-Demonstration of the basic operation of the large format camera

-Information on where to purchase the equipment, glass and metal plates

– Recommendation of books for further reading

Day Two:

(pre requisite of attending Day Two is completion of Day One)

– A day of practical experience for those that wish to have a deeper understanding of the process

– How to use the experiment

– How to position and light a portrait

All the materials for the practically experience day will be provided

The days can be taken together or separately to suit individual requirements.

Lunch on both days is included and will be served in Julia’s Tearoom.

Products to enable the process will be available to purchase after the course through Dimbola’s gift shop for those that have completed both days.

The course is taught by the exceptionally talented and award-winning Czech photographer Honza Sakař. Honza has been using this arcane photographic process for over five years. He has his own wet plate collodion photographic studio in Prague. In 2016 Honza became a double 1st prize winner at the Czech Press Photo Awards in both the Portrait and Art categories.

Price £400 per person for Two Days or £200 only for Day One.
