Ref Number: 0085
Pan Lane Station was demolished and the Newport Bypass was rerouted to follow the railroad’s original path. On August 11, 1875, Newport Pan Lane Station opened at the northern end of the Newport Junction Railway. When it first opened on the 6th of October 1875, it did so without permission from the Board of Trade. After the railway was extended north to Newport Station to connect with the Ryde and Newport Railway, the temporary terminus was closed on June 1, 1879.
