A Tangmere based Typhoon was forced down on the 25th May on Brading Marshes.

On the 25th of May, as a result of technical issues, a Tangmere-based Hawker Typhoon 1B (belonging to the 486th Squadron) had to make an emergency landing in the Brading Marshes .
Flt. Sgt. D. Bennett, who was uninjured and managed to straighten himself out, headed over to the local St. Helens Train Station, where he phoned the airport and reported that he would be late for tea.
