It is John Sellers’s maps of the smaller counties in England and Wales that have brought him the most fame. The majority of them saw their initial publication in 1694, after which their plates were saved and conserved for future use.
In or around the year of 1790, they were reprinted with a few minor adjustments and various descriptive texts. This helps to explain why the appearance has become so old in compared to other things that were popular around the same time.
