A tranquil B&B accommodation amongst beautiful surroundings, Mottistone Manor Farmhouse is surrounded by a rural landscape between hillsides and seashore in the picturesque hamlet of Mottistone. The house and surrounding countryside are owned by the National Trust , set in one and a half acres of garden with views to the sea in a designated 'area of outstanding natural beauty'. Parts of the house date back to the 17th century. It is criss-crossed with walking tracks, bridle paths and long distance routes just 150 metres from some of the most glorious walks with views over the island. The sea is one mile to the south and offers opportunities for relaxing, swimming, surfing and even fossil hunting along this ‘dinosaur’ coastline. It is ideal for walking, cycling, and sight seeing or visiting the multitude of attractions on the Island which you will find on Island Eye.
The village of Brighstone is approximately one mile east with local shops, pub, tea rooms, museum and a restaurant. At Hulverstone, half a mile west, lies the Sun Inn, a pleasant pub with both a homely bar and good restaurant. The hourly No. 7 bus from Freshwater to Newport stops at the end of the drive and connects with all other island buses.
We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our home-based, 4 bedroom bed and breakfast. Rose is our king size bedroom completed with 2 armchairs, satellite TV, electric kettle and tea/coffee facilities and short-pile carpets fitted throughout. Down corridor 5 metres takes you to private shower room. Bay Tree and Yew Tree are double bedrooms nicely finished with settees, TVs, electric kettles and tea/coffee facilities and short-pile carpets throughout. Both rooms benefit en-suite bath with shower on wall above bath taps. Although the Garden Room is not designed to full disabled-access standards, this room has been successfully used by wheelchair users. The extra facilities do not detract from its attractiveness as a bedroom suite. It benefits from the ample room all round beds and small separate lounge area with 2 armchairs, satellite TV, electric kettle and tea/coffee facilities. Breakfast is served on a rectangular communal table in the Dining Room parquet tiled with a central rug beneath the table. We can cater various diets for our guests. Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request.
There is no smoking throughout the premises. Indeed, our lease, with the National Trust, prohibits naked flames throughout the building, except in the lounge fireplace and Aga. Outdoor we are offering our guests extensive tranquil gardens and the most beautiful views. You have an access to terrace via front door where there are no steps or the dining room French windows. Our entrance is through a 5-bar gateway into front entrance hall. There is ample off-road car parking immediately beside the front door. The car park is almost level gravelled tarmac and has no marked spaces. We can assist you with your luggage. We ask guests to vacate the house between 10:30 and 16:00 each day. We are very happy to accept children, but our facilities are not oriented towards them. Dogs are not allowed upstairs, but we have accepted a number of dogs by agreeing arrangements before booking.
Only a few mobile ‘phone networks work in the house (e.g. O2 and T-Mobile). Guests may use our landline by arrangement. This is a high quality B&B, with a four-star rating where a warm welcome awaits you.
