1. COUNTY PETTY SESSIONS. – On Saturday before C.Seely, Esq., M.P. (chairman), Admiral Crozier, Colonel the Hon. Somerset Calthorpe, C.G. McGregor Skinner, and F.W.Popham, Esqs.

James Spanner, dairyman and market gardener, Chale, was summoned for having in his possession six bottles of smuggled brandy, also a jar and a cask partly filled with the same spirit, and a small bottle filled with mixed liquor.
