Newnham Farm Bed and Breakfast

REF NR: 323

Newnham Farm is a beautiful 17th century farmhouse with extensive garden. The house is situated in the middle of the 350 acre working farm. Although only 5 minutes by car from the centre of Ryde and the Fishbourne car ferry terminal, guests experience total peace and quiet as the house is surrounded by green fields and woodland. The area is listed as 'outstanding landscape with ancient woodland and medieval fish ponds'.

The sunny, spacious bedrooms have been individually decorated and both rooms have their own ensuite facilities, with double sized shower cabinets. The rooms have colour television, hair dryer, coffee and tea making facilities with homemade shortbread and a fridge containing fresh milk, also very useful for that bottle of wine, fresh fruit or chocolate biscuits! Sleep soundly in comfortable, peaceful surroundings and wake refreshed to the sound of birdsong and the ducks quacking on the pond.

Breakfast can be as speedy or as leisurely as you wish; by the log fire in the cosy beamed dining room, in Autumn and Winter or on the patio on warm summer mornings. We cook with fresh Island produce and we make all our own jams and marmalades. We have beehives on the farm so there is a plentiful supply of honey and homemade bread to spread it on. All breakfasts are cooked to order and so we can easily cater for different tastes and diets - vegetarian options available. If you have special dietry requirements, please inform us when booking. Smell the freshly brewed coffee, the aroma of crisply frying bacon…
make time to enjoy a real farm breakfast! Sit on the patio on warm summer evenings and listen to the echolocation sounds of 5 different breeds of bat. Fascinating! Red Squirrels can often be seen feeding on the bird tables - right outside your bedroom window.

A 10 minute walk through the fields and woodland brings you to the top of the farm, giving interesting views to the Solent and the mainland. Guests are welcome to wander in the garden and to walk the footpaths north to Quarr Abbey for quiet reflection or south towards Havenstreet and Firestone Copse. Many guests enjoy walking to the tearooms at Quarr or to mass on summer mornings and then on for a leisurely lunch at the Fishbourne Inn. Wellies can be borrowed! There are many quiet corners in the garden to sit, to read, to dream, to drink a cup or tea or sip a glass of wine and… relax. For evening meals we can recommend some excellent local pubs, you can find on Island Eye, that serve very good food.

The Island can be so beautiful in Autumn ,Winter and Spring. There are deserted beaches for bracing walks, cosy pubs to dive into for a warming drink. The bluebells are wonderful at the end of April. Everywhere is less crowded, ideal for that much needed, tranquil breakaway. The Isle of Wight boasts many sandy beaches but we also have a multitude of other activities to entertain the visitor. There are 7 golf courses; why not book a lesson to improve your swing? Horse riding is available at nearby Brickfields Horsecountry. Sailing - the Solent is 5 minutes away - windsurfing, kitesurfing and even hang-gliding for the brave! The Havenstreet Steam Railway is only a mile from the farm. Newnham Farm is also ideally situated for cycling and walking holidays. The Havenstreet Trail passes the farm giving easy access to the extensive network of Island footpaths and bridleways. Discover the beauty, history and serenity of the Isle of Wight with Island Eye and Newnham Farm is open all the year round. A warm welcome awaits you throughout the year.
