Westover Farm

Westover Farm is a 560 acre working arable farm set in the centre of the peaceful West Wight countryside, one mile from the village of Calbourne. The location is very peaceful, being surrounded by fields and trees and the farmhouse overlooks lakes and ponds.  Apart from the other occupants of the house which will either be other guests or the owners, it is without close neighbours.

The accommodation at Westover Farm comprises of the main part of the farmhouse and the North wing. The Farmhouse is available during the summer months. The accommodation is spacious and therefore flexible, 12 people can sleep comfortably. We have a double bed family bedroom with connecting door to another bedroom which has bunk beds and a single bed. Towels, tea towels, sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers are provided as well as waterproof sheets for young children. The family bathroom offers a bath and a shower. From family bathroom, three quarter flight of stairs we have another double bed Bedroom with TV and en-suite shower and WC. Our clients can also use two more bedrooms with single bed, double bed and bunk beds. All bunk beds are full size beds. Bedrooms can be changed around, please ask at time of booking if you would like additional beds or beds moved. Cots are available by arrangement. The entrance of the house leads into a hall and doors off to drawing room and sitting room with satellite TV and video. Half flight of stairs down to utility room where we have placed washing machine and tumble dryer.  A door takes you to the kitchen completed with aga (usually off in summer), electric hob and oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge etc and dining area.  French windows lead onto the garden with garden furniture and gas barbecue. Although a working arable farm, the fenced garden, surrounded by trees and hedges offers both space and seclusion. The accommodation is in an ideal location for families with children. Well-behaved dogs are permitted by prior arrangement but they must be kept downstairs. They should be exercised away from the house and garden, on a lead and should not be left unattended except by arrangement.

The Isle of Wight is easily reached, by car or public transport. Ferry crossings take between 15 and 55 minutes depending on the route chosen. Guests wishing to travel by car should contact Whightlink or Red Funnel. We have parking available close to the house. Westover Farm is between Calbourne and Freshwater in the middle of the West Wight. Guests wishing to use the farm as a base for walking holidays can be picked up from ferry ports by arrangement. The Isle of Wight has a wealth of footpaths and bridleways which you can view on Island Eye, and is reputed to have more footpaths per square mile than any other English county. The sandy beach at Compton Bay is a short drive away and there is direct access to the Westover Downs and Forest and the Island's network of footpaths and trails. The county town of Newport is 5 miles away. Isle of Wight is a unique holiday destination. From historic sites to natural delights, music festivals and major national events, it has something for everyone. Farmhouse visitors may occupy the property from 2.30pm on arrival day and are requested to vacate the premises by 10.am on departure day. Accommodation is usually Saturday to Saturday. Your holiday can be provisionally booked via telephone or email but a deposit will be required to confirm the booking.  The full rental payable becomes due four weeks before arrival day. Visitors taking advantage of early/late ferry crossings are welcome to leave their luggage by arrangement.
