Atherfield Green Farm Holiday Cottages

REF NR: 1488

Atherfield Green Farm Holiday Cottages are situated in the stunning south-west of the Isle of Wight. The Island is a county positioned off the south coast of England.  Its beneficial location offers some of the best weather in the entire United Kingdom. The West Wight offers opportunities for a wide variety of sports and pastimes such as fishing, mountain biking, paragliding and various forms of surfing and water sports. Surrounding Atherfield Green are an intricate network of quiet lanes and footpaths, and the nearby Downland offers fantastic views across the Island. This makes our location excellent for walkers and cyclists.

Atherfield Green Farm holiday cottages were originally operated as a classical mixed farm. The cottages were converted ten years ago and are attractively sited around a central, level courtyard. Owned and run by Jenny and Alistair Davidson, the farm has been in the family now since 1918, when it was bought by Jenny's grandfather, who moved to Atherfield Green from Newchurch, in the East Wight. We offer the clients 4 lovely cottages which are also accessible for disabled guests. Views from the cottages are spectacular, stretching across miles of unbroken farmland and countryside.

Rose Cottage was once the farm's granary. Now converted, the open beams and stunning hallway give this large, detached cottage the wow factor! With three bedrooms, Rose Cottage is capable of sleeping up to eight people. Beds can be singles or doubles and the well equipped kitchen with all crockery, cutlery and utensils are arranged to suit your needs.

Honeysuckle the converted horse stable with its own private, fenced garden and spacious interior, is ideal for families coming with small children or dogs. It has three bedrooms, and is capable of sleeping up to eight people. Beds can be arranged as per your requirements.

Although Fuchsia is the smallest of our cottages, this delightful ground floor property is spacious and attractive. Capable of sleeping up to 2-people make it ideal for couples.

Adjoined to Fuchsia Lavender Cottage offers a single-storey accommodation once comprised part of the farm's milking parlour and dairy. Capable of sleeping up to 4-people, within 2-bedrooms, this delightful cottage has everything you need. Lavender Cottage also has 2-single electric beds.

Our spacious cottages have access to a shared garden and attractive outdoor patio seating area where you can enjoy the lovely weather and have some fresh air. Wish to stay inside and watch TV in the lounge the properties are centrally gas-fired heated with double glazing. Parking for 2 vehicles is available for each cottage.

With our disabled clients in mind all cottages have flat doorway thresholds, ground-floor accessible and flat courtyard, with a sealed, hard surface. Rose and Lavender include electrically-operated beds. Each cottage includes an electrically-operated riser-recliner chair. We also have a swivel, height-adjustable perching stool, for use in the showers, two shower wheel chairs, and raised toilet seats available to book. Electric sockets are raised, light switches are lowered. Each cottage has an accessible shower room (wet room), with a wall-mounted seat. For equipment we are unable to provide, please contact Island Mobility, a local firm with a wide-range of accessible equipment.

With regard to attractions to visit, we are approximately 2-miles from Blackgang Chine theme park, great for families, and we are ideally placed to access the stunning beaches and chines located all along the south-west coast. The family-friendly Ventnor Botanic Gardens are a fifteen minute drive, which incorporates the fascinating undercliff. The nearest neighbouring village is Chale Green, approximately 2-miles away, providing a newly-renovated village shop, post office, delicatessen and café. A little further afield are the well-equipped villages of Shorwell and Brighstone, both of which are very picturesque with thatched cottages and ancient churches. Both villages offer local pubs, post offices and shops. Newport, the county town of the Island is approximately fifteen minutes away by car. Because of our rural location, we do recommend that you have your own form of transport as we are not on a bus route. What the neighbouring villages can offer you it is very easy to find on Island Eye. The Island is also renowned among palaeontologists, and the Dinosaur Farm is approximately 3-miles away. If you want the opportunity to see fossilised dinosaur footprints and hunt for your own fossils, nearby Compton beach is popular as its dramatic landslips often unearth new finds.
