Brighstone Holiday Centre

REF NR: 862

Brighstone holiday centre is set in the West Wight amongst some of the most picturesque scenery the island has to see, overlooking the beach and easy, safe beach access. We can offer our clients a choice of camping, self catering and bed and breakfast. Last year we added 10 basic rooms for those on a strict budget. Perfect for families, walkers, surfers and mountain bikers just a short drive to Compton Bay offering the best surfing on the Island. If golf is your sport, a self catering holiday Isle of Wight break at the nearby Freshwater course may be just the thing to relax. Brighstone Holiday Centre is a family run site that was originally built in 1932 and is possibly the only one of its type left in the country. Whilst we are trying to preserve the period charm of the site, we try very hard to provide clean modern facilities for all who stay with us. We cater for individuals, small and very large groups, birthdays, weddings or any special event you care to share with us. Sue and Clive will always try to help where needed and are flexible wherever possible.

The 10 acre site is set in peaceful, picturesque West Wight, with the main part of the site being close mown grass with approx 2 acres left long as a dog exercise area. Well behaved dogs are always welcome. We have recently purchased an adjacent 5 acres that has proved popular with extra large family tents and caravan rallies who need “their own space”. The site currently offers 12 B&B rooms, which can each cater for 2 or 3 students comfortably. The rooms are in 2 rows of 6, which make for easy separation of genders, with teachers having the use of nearby self catering units. All rooms have en-suite toilet, shower and washbasin. Tea and coffee making facilities are supplied and refreshed daily. Have a full English breakfast or simple toast. Fruit juice and cereals are served during the season. The rooms have colour TV, dressing table, wardrobe and a mix of either 2 or 3 single beds or double bed and a single bed.

Self catering chalets have a fully equipped kitchen/dining room with electric cooker, fridge, radio, crockery, cutlery and all the usual cooking equipment. The separate living room has colour TV, settee, chairs etc. All bed linen is provided but we do ask that you bring your own towels. Electricity is supplied via a £1.00 coin meter, there is electric heating throughout. High chairs and push chairs for babies/toddlers are available by prior arrangement.

You will find two large grassed areas directly in front of the chalets, ideal for children to play safely with swings, slide, sandpit and playhouse whilst easily being watched from chalets or caravans. The site reception has a small shop stocking ice cream, toys, souvenirs, sweets and basic necessities. A good way to burn excess energy at the end of the day is to use our swimming pool open 7 days a week from May to October and is free to anyone staying on site. Friends can also take advantage.

Campers and Caravanners are welcome to use their own barbeques or the barbeque area provided on site. There is a kitchen provided for their use with cooker, fridge-freezer and washing-up sinks as well as ample toilets and free hot showers at all times. Should the weather be unkind we have drying facilities for boots and wet clothing. A freezer pack service is available and for caravanners and campers not using hook-ups, a battery charging service is also available.

Daily papers, general stores and a post office are nearby in Brighstone village, which is 1 mile away.  All the places of interest are within easy reach and you can find them on Island Eye. The coastline at Brook and Compton is famous for its preserved dinosaur footprints. At the bottom of our site is the coastal walk which offers easy access for beaches, geology studies and dinosaur remains. West Wight has very little light pollution, making it ideal for astronomy weekends whilst the glorious sunsets will inspire painting and photography by all ages and skill levels. Fishing for sea bass and mackerel in the summer can be rewarding, especially when cooked on the barbeque afterwards.

At Brighstone Holiday Centre we try as much as possible to help; if parents want the comfort and practicality of a self catering chalet or Bed & Breakfast room but children want a camping holiday, why not book a single bedroom self catering chalet and have the children in a tent as close as 6 feet from the door.
