Buddle Inn

REF NR: 3550

Sitting on top of the cliff top overlooking St Catherine’s Lighthouse, the Buddle Inn was originally just a three-room farm cottage thought to of been built in the sixteenth century. The pub was first granted its licence in 1850.

During its time a number of people have reported seeing ghostly figures walking out from the fireplace across the bar and into the end wall on the Ventnor side of the pub. Some of the guests were so scared that they chose to leave immediately.

There have been sightings of the ghosts of smugglers, sailors and customs men, dressed in very old-fashioned clothing walking through the bar.
