The Needles Park 

 

The Needles is the Isle of Wight’s most famous family attraction which you have no choice but to be impressed by. There is quite simply so much to do at the Needles Park, will you be able to fit it all in one day. From the world famous views to the spectacular and dazzling multi coloured sand cliffs there really is so much to do here. Don’t forget the park is free to enter and the rides as well as other attractions are put simply pay as you go giving you the freedom to pick and choose what you wish to experience.
 
Spins and Needles Tea Cup Ride
A favourite of junior visitors to The Needles Park is Spins and Needles the park’s teacup ride. Take pleasure in riding your very own teacup as it spins and whirls you around. Increase the pace by spinning your wheel or relax and enjoy the gentle pace as the fresh air blows through your hair. There is plenty of room for all the family on the Spins and Needles teacup ride as there are five cups with each cup taking up to four people so enjoy.
 
The Chairlift
If you want the best way to see the Needles probably the Isle of Wight’s most famous landmark then The Needles Park Chairlift will be your first port of call. There are fifty chairs going from the top of the cliff to Alum Bay Beach and back again. Take a deep breath as the views from The Needles Park Chairlift are simply staggering. View the Needles Rocks and Lighthouse and the spectrum of colours you’ll see in the sand cliffs. If all this wasn’t enough the gorgeous turquoise colour of sea is something to behold.
 
Sand Shop
From alum bay natural vibrant coloured sands are known to have been collected since early Victorian times and are noted in Thomas Brettell ‘s ‘Handbook to the Isle of Wight’ which was printed in 1844. Uniquely Alum Bay has twenty one differently recognisable shades of colour. Gifts were made from the unique sands at Alum Bay and were presented to Queen Victoria way back in 1860. This gave precedent in starting a wonderful souvenir tradition that still attracts people in large numbers to this very day. You may remember coming to the Isle of Wight as a child filling you own Alum Bay sand souvenir straight from the beach. However you are now unable to collect you own sands but you are still able to make you own sand mementos in The Needles Park Sand Shop.
 
Alum Bay Glass
For over thirty years there have been live demonstrations by the skilled craftsmen at Alum Bay Glass which has brought pleasure to many spectators. At Alum Bay Glass their craftsmen create beautifully stunning perfume bottles, vases, bowls and ornaments in a fantastic plethora of colours of all shapes and sizes.
 
Sweet Manufactory
At the Sweet Manufactory you’re bound to find something to satisfy anyone with a sweet tooth. You can watch the Sweet Manufactory’s sweet makers creating all kinds of delicious treats that can be found nowhere else and you might even want to taste the finished products. At the Sweet Manufactory you will find virtually any flavour your taste buds might be craving.
