The Camberwell on May 18th 1917 was steaming six miles S.E. of Dunnose Head off the Isle of Wight when tragedy struck as she struck a submerged mine. The captain managed to get all but seven of his crew to safety. She now lies on the sea bed with the bow and the stern intact and remains a good dive when other dives have been closed down due to bad weather as is sheltered by Sandown Bay.
