Algerian

REF NR: 612

The Algerian was believed to have been been struck by a mine in the Solent just a mile off Egypt Point on the Isle of Wight in 1916. There were no known casualties. The 3,837 ton ship was on its way to Avonmouth in ballast in a government operation, when it was struck by a mine. The mine is thought to have been laid by a German submarine.
