The Print:

In this picture you see a scene that is far removed from today's Blackgang Chine. The people on the shore at the bottom of the picture lend it scale with the cliffs directly above them. Some of the surrounding scenery shown in the picture has through time been eroded away to its now present condition.

The Brannons

George had four children, Alfred and Philip followed their father into the engraving business and were indeed very successful.  They produced not only engravings of the Island but of other local towns and cities including Southampton
