History Brannon Family Engravers

Bembridge from across the haven 1831

REF NR: 1520

The Print:

This is a very interesting print with a great deal of detail, looking down from St Helens green we first see in the cows grazing on the Duver and the entrance to Brading Haven beyond. Over on the Bembridge side we can see many well known local houses and the Church of Holy Trinity built in 1845 to the right.

The Brannons

George had four children, Alfred and Philip followed their father into the engraving business and were indeed very successful.  They produced not only engravings of the Island but of other local towns and cities including Southampton
