
The Print: This engraving is a nice sedate scene of Alum Bay in the foreground, with the new Needles Lighthouse built in 1868/9 on the far right. On close exmaination one can see that the 1858 engraving is probably the 1840 engraving with the lighthouse and minor possible alterations to the cliff face added. A 19th century spot the difference!
The Brannons
George had four children, Alfred and Philip followed their father into the engraving business and were indeed very successful. They produced not only engravings of the Island but of other local towns and cities including Southampton
