History Air Crashes of WWII

Allied - Spitfire Mk V EN965

REF NR: 1937

This Mk. V Spitfire crash landed at Atherfield after a flying accident, causing Category A damage to the aircraft being flown by Flt. Sgt. D.C. Eva. The Spitfire from 118 Squadron Tangmere was fairly damaged but later repaired and was eventually converted in Feb. 1944 as a trainer.   The pilot was uninjured.

 

Please note there are recorded date inconsistencies between sources, however its flying record suggest it was the 26th when the accident happened.
